LU-ST
Sustainable conceptstore
After meeting more and more designers who also worked with leftover and recycled materials, I felt a calling to create a common platform. Together with two friends we opened a sustainable conceptstore with products from Dutch designers made from recycled materials. Every product contained its own (his)story, because all materials had already lived a lifetime. Now they were transformed into something new. During their transformation they received love and passion from the makers. The combination of these products made our store radiate with energy.
LU-ST was a concept to bring consciousness into the consumption society. To show visitors another form of consuming while getting inspired and touched by handmade products. Realising that there is much more value and life energy in these crafts, then in the factory made products which are designed to throw away.
We had a little lunchroom in the store where people came for a homemade pie or sandwich and a good cup of coffee, made with beans from our neighbour Miss Morrison coffee-roasting factory. This gave a cosy and relaxed atmosphere which made people feel at home while wandering around in the store.
As enthusiastic young entrepreneurs we organised many events. Together with our designers and other stores and restaurants in the city, we brought a lot of creativity and entertainment in- and outside of the store.
During this adventure I also went through a big crisis in my life. Which brought me in deep waters of grieve, guilt and desperation. The pain went so deep that it touched my soul, which opened a little light inside of me. In this period my consciousness expanded and I came in contact with my true self. The spiritual path that my parents provided during my childhood opened up again, but now from my own curiosity. Slowly I paved my way out of the darkness inside of me, with trial and error I learned to listen to the communication of my soul. This inner process also had its reflection on the outside. It became harder and harder for me to run a business where there was a pressure to sell to be able to exist. And since I was not willing to make compromises in the values of the concept, it was time to find a new owner for the store. Since 2019 the store has a new owner and a new name: Voorlopig conceptstore.
For me it was time for a new adventure; I CHANGE the value of food
